The Theatre School presents “The Royal Hunt of the Sun,” written by Peter Shaffer and directed by Ian Frank, as the final production of the 2012-2013 New Directors Series.
In this epic adventure, Francisco Pizarro leads 168 Spaniards to conquer 8,000 Incan soldiers in the name of gold and religion. When the Spaniards capture Atahualpa, King of the Incas, a high-stakes bargain is made, and all notions of chivalry and faith are questioned. This quest for truth and immortality features pageantry and music in an imaginative look at history.
The show opens Feb. 1, and runs through Feb. 10 at the Greenhouse Theater Center. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Previews are on Jan. 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is free but reservations are recommended. Call the box office at (312) 922-1999.
