Starting Jan. 1, 2010, DePaul will offer medical coverage for dependents up to age 26 (age 30 for military veterans). If you have dependents who are not covered under your medical plan because of their age or because they are not enrolled as a full-time student, you may add them to your Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO or HMO Illinois beginning with the 2010 plan year. Please be aware that there may be tax implications for covering a non-tax dependent. Dependents must meet these eligibility requirements in order to be covered:
Non-Military Dependents
- Must be under 26 years of age
- Unmarried
- Do not have to be enrolled as full-time student
Military Dependents
- Must be under 30 years of age
- Unmarried
- Do not have to be enrolled as full-time student
- Illinois residency required (must reside within the zip code of the service plan coverage)
- Must receive a discharge other than dishonorable
When do I enroll my dependents?
During this year’s Annual Benefits Enrollment that runs from Oct. 19 through Oct. 31.
How do I enroll my dependents?
If you have a dependent who meets the requirements stated above, you must contact the Benefits Department at Ext. 2-8232 for instructions prior to completing your annual enrollment online through Campus Connection.
